Jamie Drake show poster

Jamie Drake is a hidden gem in the Los Angeles songwriting scene whose music has consistently reflected her own personal journey. Like a scientist analytically working in a laboratory, she has written and recorded many projects (The Bitter Branches, Nobel, Dear Lemon Trees) in her short, 10-year career. Her father was a songwriter and their family was marked by the constant moving from place to place. This gypsy lifestyle helped form the versatility her work is characterized by. Her debut, “When I Was Yours,” attracted Academy award winner and folk music lover, Tim Robbins, and led to their collaboration and tour of the west coast. A background in musical theater whimsically took her to New York City to star in the Off-Broadway folk musical, Lonesome Traveler, where the New York Times said she “quietly claimed the show’s best moment” while embodying Judy Collins. Her voice is as varied as her writing. A three-octave range and many layers of diverse tone are showcased in all her releases (as well as an EDM release on Armada Music called, “Falling Down”). Jamie is called upon regularly for writing and singing sessions across LA, and you may be hearing her writing and vocals featured as the theme song for a new television show in the coming year. She will be releasing her sophomore effort as well which will be a culmination of all her endeavors: sophisticated musical arrangements surrounding a meditation on life after divorce. Jamie volunteers for The Art of Elysium, is a founding member of a woman’s songwriting group and is a music mentor for students through her work with the nonprofit, Sound Art.”
